I have chosen this name because it suits me for today’s blog.
In my opinion, it has two meanings according to the language used.
In Spanish:
I’m going to keep the first meaning of the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy:
NETO OR NETA:
“That is very clear and does not present confusion or is very well defined or delimited”
Let’s go for parts:
How do we all people love our Altea town, or at least the majority ?:
both those who were born here and those who have adopted it as a place of permanent or temporary residence, and that we come from sites as differents, some near and others as far away as is my case,
We want it very well defined, very clear, without confusion.

Let’s analyze the parts of the sentence and by parts:
“Very well defined”
We want it very well defined in its style, with panache, with class, with the sole that it has always had and that those who have known it for a long time know that it is there, now a little hidden by the “chabacanería” of the times that we are living and that “normalize” everything, rudeness, ordinariness, and even vulgarity, carelessness and bad education.

We want it clear, transparent, that anyone arriving for the first time sees what is there, their class, their presence, their difference with what is around.

For that it has to be very well defined and there should be no confusion in their cultural values, their own style and way of being.

Now we go to the second meaning
In Valencian language:
NETA means clean.

And here I appeal to the authorities on duty (read in this case Jaume Llinares, [very nice guy by the way] and all his team).
I strongly urge them to take it very seriously this word and its meaning in their language, and try by all means to keep it as clean as possible, because that is the first thing a person sees coming from outside.

If it is (clean) highlight and see the other values, which interest us.
If it is not (clean) it seems that it is the only thing that is seen and the rest goes unnoticed.
And as my friend and colleague Ana Tecles says in a comment she made in my previous blog, although she is not from Altea (she is from Alcoy), she has been here all her life and knows what the thing is: (copy and paste):
“It would be very important to improve the image as a town, the cleanliness, the taste for well-done performances with love, roundabouts, parks, gardening, access to the city (bridges, roundabouts, gardens at the entrances on the highway , or south entrance from Benidorm, the decoration on designated dates (Christmas for example, which leaves much to be desired in recent years) … .. any corner can be a point to stand and comment, “how beautiful” “what good taste.” “
This is perhaps the key:
“If we could get the atmosphere of the Old Town!”

She sees it just like me:
“I think it is important to insist on these issues, it is the first feeling that everyone, residents and visitors, we get when we arrive or walk the streets of Altea.”
And as for the local authorities:
“The City Council should be involved, they are issues little linked to one or another ideology and much to the image that we export from the municipality, likewise each of us try to contribute our grain of sand …”
As for optimism, we are tied:
“We finally started a new year, we will see if we do it with new objectives. All this, without a doubt, will improve everyone’s economic activity and in turn will return to Altea its chic ”

Totally agree with her.
We want forever a town proud of its beauty and uniqueness, warmth and with its good weather.

A special town, different from the rest and for which we are proud of those who live in it, and we want to continue feeling. Forever and ever.

Altea will always be different from the surrounding villages, so let’s accentuate that difference, let the others say: “ahhh, you live in Altea!” And that makes us raise our ego, which lately we have a little crushed by everything that is happening everywhere and that continually bombards our morale and undermines us optimism …..

Let’s lift our spirits and fight to improve everything, that we can if we insist and put will and desire.
Let’s put aside nonsense, bad rolls, envy, bad milk …

And we’ll help whoever corresponds to do things well, that if we all join together, the natives and the “adopted”, we will build an even more beautiful town (if that is possible), and make it more pleasant to live.

Go for it!
Have a nice weekend
