The beauty of this amazing town we have on the Costa Blanca.
Called Altea.
That Altea is considered among the most beautiful villages in Spain is no an accident.
It really is
Is beautiful.
We who know it, it is clear
And for those who do not know it, should be an obligation to know it.
Today we will take a tour of the old town and its steep streets
We will enjoy its views, and we will get tired of walking, going up and down slopes and we will be filled with beauty and tranquility, because if there is something so characteristic in this town it is the tranquility of its streets, its people and its climate.
Because the weather we have deserves a separate mention.
Right now we are in November and there are still people bathing in the sea,
Amazing,
foreigners can’t believe it ..
They come from the Nordic countries with a weather awful at this time, and they are here enjoying the sun and the beach.
Only a few hours away …
In the old town despite being a busy place and very visited by all tourists who arrive in Altea, you still breathe an air of peace and tranquility.
Starting from the Promenade and the Main Avenue where the most modern and active part of the business hours, the Municipal Market and the City Hall, we can begin the ascent to the old town with two possible itineraries:
Or by the Costera del Mestre de la Música, which is a beautiful staircase that ascends between whitewashed houses,
or on Pont de Moncau Street to Plaza de la Cruz.
From there you go up to Portall Vell, you cross it and you find the Calle Mayor that is full of craft shops and restaurants until you reach the center of the old town of Altea and the Church Square and its viewpoint.
In the Old Town of Altea there are a multitude of restaurants with all kinds of cuisine, and I recommend you try the fantastic typical dishes of the area, and by the way you can take advantage of the walk visiting the countless shops where you can find a beautiful memory of Altea.
And if you choose the ascent of Pont de Moncau street, don’t forget to get to your right in the Bellaguarda neighborhood, a beautiful neighborhood that has in its beautiful square the reconstruction of an old watchtower.
In this square Bellaguarda in summer there are numerous concerts and you can see a piece of the old wall.
I recomend to watch the views from there
There you will find little hotels full of charm and beautiful corners where you can make spectacular selfies
The Old Town of Altea is a site with a great cultural heritage.
The most emblematic place in the old town is the Church of Our Lady of Consuelo.
Its two domes with blue tiles are visible from almost anywhere in the city and it is one of the most photographed images of this population, let’s say it’s the Altea postcard,
Stop and take something on any of the terraces of the square and enjoy that beautiful place
There are numerous natural viewpoints from which you can see beautiful views of the city, although the most important is the Chronicle Viewpoint located in the highest part, next to the church.
Altea has about 25,000 inhabitants, and almost 40% are foreigners.
For something it will be, right?
In summer in this square they perform the Handicraft Exhibition and throughout the old town you will see exposed on the balconies of the houses canvases of different artists that hang for the enjoyment of the pedestrians.
Walk, walk, do the pine if you want, but get lost in its steep streets and visit the craft shops, sit on one of its terraces to dream, to enjoy life and this beautiful place.

forget about your problems for a damn time and the boring daily routine.
If Altea has something, it is that if you let yourself be carried away by the environment, you forget even your name.
