Altea is an small town in the Valencian Community, located in the province of Alicante.
It is located on the Costa Blanca of the Mediterranean Sea, north of Benidorm and south of Calpe and has about 25,000 inhabitants.
The beautiful old town is clustered around the Parochial Church, with its characteristic blue dome, which stands out against the white tones of the town. The square Tower of the temple contributes even more to give that pictorial pre-eminence to the dome, which is typical in the paintings of new and experienced artists.
Between the steep and narrow streets of the old town, the white color stands out, that sometimes breaks with the greenery of some plant or the fuchsia of a bougainvillea. Photographers and painters are usually found in these enclaves, in search of places with flavor, next to the immense bustle of tourism.
On the seafront you can enjoy a nice sea breeze, with wonderful views of the bay. Numerous terraces that are in the same, bars and restaurants, offer the possibility of tasting the cuisine of the area.
The healthy and famous Mediterranean cuisine, so fashionable in our times, is practiced by the Alteanos, always.
The cuisine of this town is based on traditional products; fish, seafood, rice and products from the garden, such as fruits and vegetables.
Altea has more than 6 km of coastline, in which cliff areas and small coves alternate, with stretches of beach on flat ground and pebble.
Altea, the “Queen” of the Marina Baja, is one of the most beautiful corners of the 500 kilometers of the Levantine coast.
Due to the proximity of the two international airports: El-Altet (Alicante) and Manises (Valencia), it is very well connected. And thanks to the AP-7 highway that has an access in the same town it is very easy to reach any destination. There are AVE (high speed trains) to Madrid from Valencia and Alicante.
