Story of several lives
Abel "The Stoic"
HISTORY OF THE IMMIGRANT FORGED IN FIRE
Year 2026.
Everything changes.
The world is changing rapidly.
And I, at 76, am changing too.
I’ve managed to shed the old self that had taken root inside me and I’ve become young again (mentally speaking), and I’m starting a new chapter with great enthusiasm.
To that end, I’m offering all my experience and my new philosophy of life to anyone who wants to benefit from it.
Take advantage of it.
A STORY OF VALUE
I was born in La Plata, Argentina
My father was Italian and my mother was Argentinian.
He had a doctorate in Pharmacy, Biochemistry, and Medicine.
She was a Professor of Fine Arts and a painter.
I grew up and was educated there until I was 25, surrounded by scientists and artists.
I studied Mechanical Engineering, and since math wasn’t my strong suit, I became a medical representative for Abbott Laboratories.
When I was doing well, I left everything: home, family, and job, to embark on an adventure…

From Argentina to Europe with no money and only a few phone numbers.
I arrived in Barcelona and from there began a journey of almost two years, during which I lived and worked various jobs in Barcelona, Mallorca, Vigo, Stockholm, and Milan before finally settling in Madrid.
That’s where I met my first wife

There, I began my career in the fashion world as a model for the Maroe Agency, walking in several shows for major brands such as Jesús del Pozo, Givenchy, El Corte Inglés, and others.

While continuing to practice my favorite sport: Taekwondo

I’ve got married and opened a wholesale women’s fashion store.

and continued my work as an advertising model for 12 years.

One day, tired of the business, I’ve sold everything and went to live in London for almost a year.
I returned to Madrid, now divorced, and was appointed director of the Príncipe Sports Wellness Center and Spa at 240 Serrano Street.

During that period I remarried for the second time.

In that magnificent place I was lucky enough to meet very important people, such as Prince Felipe, the current King of Spain.

And to his family

and some of the famous TV personalities of that time (Bertín Osborne, Matías Prats, Emilio Aragón, etc., etc.) and from the world of football such as Valdano, Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Redondo, etc.

And I got divorced again.
For the second time!
Around that time, along with two friends, Gonzalo de la Herrán and Ricardo Reese, we founded the Madrid Padel Federation, and I was appointed its first International Padel Referee.
For two years I organized tournaments all over Spain.
Back then, there wasn’t the money that there is today, 30 years later, which proves that sometimes being too early is just as bad as being too late.

Tired of Madrid and wanting to escape my comfort zone, I went on a six-month spiritual retreat to a vast and beautiful estate where the nearest neighbor was 10 kilometers away. I lived there alone with my three mastiff companions.
In exchange for my stay, I was tasked with showing the 500-hectare estate (half in the province of Toledo and the other half in Ciudad Real) to potential buyers sent to me by a real estate agent from Madrid. (I got my first mobile phone around that time, a brick-sized Motorola.)
That was my first experience in the real estate business and the beginning of my promising career in this field.
When my retreat, where I recharged my mind and body, was over, I moved to Altea, and there I began my career in real estate.
That was my start as a real estate agent.
It was the end of 1995.
In 1997, I had the opportunity to open a real estate office in Gijón, Asturias, with a partner.

And off we went, my car and I with my suitcases, ready to start a new life.
But the weather felt dreary and gray, and after a year and a half, I returned to Altea, to the Mediterranean sun.
In 2000, I opened an office in Puerto Campomanes with a partner, and in 2003, I opened the Mascarat office on my own.

In the meantime, in 2001 I met Cecilia with whom I had a relationship for many years.

From 2000 to 2008 were wonderful years, until Lemmans Brothers went bankrupt in October 2008.
And everything went to hell.
Including my finances.
I was ruined.
That very same day, my friend Alfredo Bataller opened the SHA Wellness Center, and to recover and start over, I secluded myself there for four days (I was the first guest).
Back in reality and weathering the storm as best I could, in 2015 I partnered with a Russian associate and we opened two real estate offices: Elite Properties.
One in the center of Altea and the other in Puerto Campomanes.

Things didn’t work out.
We separated in 2018.
Evidence and memories from my previous stages…
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
A year later, the 18-year relationship with Cecilia ended.
From then on, everything spiraled downwards, culminating in the lockdown in March 2020.
And everything changed drastically…
Lockdown changed my life, like that of so many others...
Lack of movement and spending long hours sitting in front of a computer finally destroyed my back.
Surgery or a wheelchair, three top specialists diagnosed me…
Too much intense exercise throughout my life, combined with age, plus an economic crisis and a personal one, would have brought down an elephant… but not me.
I decided against surgery.
And right then, I discovered Stoicism.
By changing my attitude, EVERYTHING changed.
Meditation, a very healthy diet and calorie reduction, plus a strict core strengthening plan…
I completely changed my goals and my way of life!
Now I’m a specialist in living well, helping others achieve their dreams, and practicing “Mediterranean Longevity.”
And now, in 2026, it’s back to square one.
Stronger than ever (mentally speaking) and with a wealth of experience under my belt, I hope to continue helping many people find what they’re looking for for many more years.
I’ve also become a firm believer in pro-aging, that is, “being the best you can be at your age.”
I’ll see you in Altea.
